Deep Cleaning / Periodontal Treatment
Deep cleaning is among many of the services we provide in our Herndon location. Deep cleaning is also sometimes referred to as conventional periodontal therapy, scaling and root planing, or non-surgical periodontal therapy. If you have periodontal disease, the dentist may recommend a deep cleaning. This type of cleaning is more effective in removing tartar buildup below the gum line. At times, adjunctive therapies may be recommended via use of antimicrobial rinses. Periodontal disease (gum disease) may affect your general health. People who have periodontal disease have an increased chance of being diagnosed with cardiovascular disease, increased risk of stroke, being diabetic, may cause pregnancy complications and severe osteopenia.
